From 1968 to 1982, Courthouse Park was home for an annual summer "Art Fair." Talented artists from all regions of New York State gathered in Cortland to showcase their work. The Cultural Council of Cortland County (CCCC) hopes to rekindle the magic by hosting the first Arts in the Park Festival of the 21st Century July 30, from 10 to 4, in the same Courthouse Park.
Artists are being scheduled by David Beale, Executive Director of the CCCC, who hopes to have 40 artists sign up. Artists will sell their work, and awards will be presented in various categories. Artists working in both two and three dimensions are invited to participate.
Live classically-oriented music by local musicians is being scheduled by John Sikora, organizer of the Classical Music Festivals at the Blue Frog Coffeehouse on Main St. in Cortland. The performers will include a mixture of both professionals and amateurs.
Events for children are also being planned, so that all members of the family should find something interesting.
